NETFLIX's Belascoarán series
— Title treatment
This time I was reached out by Studio Freak to collaborate in the title treatment for this TV series based on a 1976 mexican novel. In this screen adaptation, Héctor Belascoarán leaves his corporate job and dull marriage to become an independent detective and tackle shocking criminal cases in 1970s Mexico City.
The creative brief was about a thoroughly letterforms exploration of several concepts of that decade: hand painted door signs, street wall posters, marquee signs, classic noir films and detective TV shows titles & credits.

SKETCH EXPLORATION
FINAL STAGE
After some rounds, it came down to two proposals with the "PI" tagline added: a straight line variation from the hand painted sign exploration and a bold bracketed slab serif font. Although a few extruded options were considered, they were discarded in the end and the final title was chosen in a saturated yellow in order to bring contrast to the key art.
