FASTBACK FILMS's Blood Star movie
— Title treatment
Under the creative direction of Fastback Films, I had a blast working on the title treatment for this indie film which marks the debut of multi-award-winning director Lawrence Jacomelli in the big screen.
This is a horror/thriller story full of twists and turns that lead the viewer into a pool of uncertainty and in going relentless escalation of suspense. ‘Blood Star’ forces us to share the ordeal of a young woman escaping domestic violence only to be hunted down by a misogynistic Sheriff, the deliberately short 24-hour time-frame serving to draw the audience into a claustrophobic atmosphere of mounting tension.

I developed some custom lettering concepts in search of different ideas that convey the suffocating game of control through stacked letter compositions, and the bloody yet violent journey through expressive brush strokes, spatters and sharp edges treatments.

SKETCH EXPLORATION
FINAL STAGE
The bloody brush lettering proposal made the cut but a few more variations were explored in order to enhance the feeling of menace, one of which eventually would serve as the final logotype.
